Haydee Kuret de Rainieri was confirmed on Wednesday, 20 August as the new president of the National Hotel & Restaurant Association. She will preside the leading tourism organization from 1 September 2008 through 30 August 2010. As is the tradition in Asonahores, she was chosen by a consensus of member organizations — Playa Dorada (Roberto Casoni), Sosua Cabarete (Cecilio Mercedes), La Romana-Juan Dolio (Luis Rodriguez) and the East (Ernesto Veloz). Haydee Kuret is married to Frank Rainieri, founder of development in the East Coast, and himself a former president of the organization. She has been closely involved with the development of Punta Cana hotel and real estate operations from the start. Ventura Serra, of Occidental Hotels, will be first vice president, and Roberto Casoni, of Victoria Hotels & Resorts, a Puerto Plata-based chain, will be second vice president.
