Jetblue’s new SDQ-Puerto Rico flight

JetBlue has announced it will be flying non-stop to San Juan from Santo Domingo beginning 18 December 2008. This marks the first intra-Caribbean service of the airline. JetBlue fills the void left by American Airlines and American Eagle that announced flight cancellations on the highly profitable route. JetBlue announces that its fares will range from US$89 to US$275 each way, plus taxes, airport and security charges.

“Demand for JetBlue’s high-value Caribbean service continues to exceed our expectations,” said Jim Fuoco, the airline’s manager of route planning. “This winter we’re pleased to redeploy capacity into some of our strongest markets for the holiday season and also add new service between Santo Domingo and San Juan, one of our customers’ most-requested routes. JetBlue is proud to be the leading value airline in the Caribbean, with as many as 50 daily flights to the region this winter.”

For the once-daily SJU-SDQ flight, JetBlue will fly a 100-seat Embraer 190 jet, with a 2×2 configuration (no middle seats), and unlimited free snacks and beverages. The flight will depart SDQ at 3:55pm arriving in SJU at 4:50pm. It will depart SJU at 5:45pm arriving in SDQ at 6:45pm.
