New ferry terminal

President Leonel Fernandez met with Puerto Rican investors in the US$10 million Ferries del Caribe terminal at the Port of Santo Domingo. The ferry has been taking tourists and cargo to and from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico for the past 12 years. The investors were accompanied by Secretary of State for Puerto Rico Kenneth McClintock. The new terminal will occupy an area of 29,000 square meters with a capacity for berthing boats of up to 600 feet. It is expected that the new project will generate US$60 million in revenues for the DR. Ferries del Caribe moves around 1,000 containers and 50,000 passengers a year.
