USA Today promotes DR as good value

In an article on ten new routes that make international travel easier this summer for American travelers, USA Today journalist Jessica Labrencis places travel to the DR first on her list. In the article that appeared on 25 June, the newspaper focuses on new routes by major airlines and low-cost-carriers to dozens of destinations. On the DR, she says that cheap flights won’t be hard to find this summer. For one, she mentions the Ft Lauderdale to Punta Cana flight by Spirit that will be available through 8 September, and the new Spirit regular service from Santiago to Fort Lauderdale that began 20 June. She also mentions that the DR is included in Spirit’s weekly offers. “If you want to nab even cheaper fares, consider signing up for spirit’s $9 Fare Club, which could help you find fares as low as US$1 each way (not including taxes and fees, of course)”.

Also mentioned are the JetBlue flights to Santo Domingo, such as the new Ft. Lauderdale departures that began 18 June and the Boston departures that began 19 June.

And Delta is also mentioned for its slew of seasonal DR routes starting this fall. These are flights to Punta Cana from Detroit that will operate on weekends beginning 21 November, while Cincinnati and Minneapolis flights operate on Saturdays starting 19 December. Flights from NYC (JFK) to Puerto Plata are also due to begin 19 December and operate on Saturdays through 10 April.
