This coming Thursday, 16 October and every third Thursday in the month, for just RD$200 anyone can take a guided tour of Santo Domingo art galleries. The Circuito de Galerias de Arte, or art gallery circuit links 19 art galleries. It is an initiative by the Dominican Republic Art Galleries Association (AGA) and Tequia Experiences, a local tour operator that specializes in cultural experiences. Mildred Canahuate, president of AGA, said that the tours would take place the third Thursday of every month from 7 to 11:30pm. The tour will stop at the galleries for 20-minute visits. The participating art galleries are: Arawak, Arte Contemporaneo, Arte San Ramon, D’Guillermo, Mesa Fine Art, De Bodden, Guillo Perez, Enmarcados El Gallo, Lucy Garcia, Corimar, El Greco, El Mural, H+) apArtgallery, La Coleccion, Cuernica, Infinitus, Umbrales de Arte, Arte Berri, Colegio de Artistas Plasticos and Laboratorio Evolutivo de Arte Contemporaneo. The galleries are located in Piantini, Evaristo Morales, El Millon, Los Prados, Los Cacicazgos, Arroyo Hondo, Gazcue and the Colonial City.
On Thursdays, the art galleries will welcome art-lovers with special events, including appearances by host artists, performances, and guided tours explaining the art on display.
As another plus, restaurants and bars located in areas around the galleries will be offering special prices to cater to the art-loving public.
