Foreign children can travel

There are many restrictions and requirements for children of Dominican nationals traveling without either of their parents. The good news is that these do not apply to foreign children traveling alone. The Department of Migration recently published an advertisement that clarifies that in the case of foreign minors departing from the DR, the only requirement is that they pay the departure tax and file corresponding departure forms. Otherwise, they can depart just by showing their passport at Migration.

In contrast, Dominican children traveling alone require extensive paperwork. The requirements are: notarized authorization from the non-traveling parent, legalization of this document by the Attorney General’s Office and deposited at the Department of Migration and payment of the corresponding fee.
