Masters Cycling comes to Santo Domingo

The Masters Pan American Championships will be held in Santo Domingo this 30 October – 9 November. This is an International Cycling Union event. Continental Champion’s jerseys and UCI medals will be awarded in every 5-year age group, from 30-34 on up to 70+.

Competition includes time trials, road races and criteriums on the road, along with match sprint, team sprint, individual pursuit, points race, and kilo (500 meters for women) time trial events on the track.

More than 60 foreign cyclists from the Americas are expected, bringing the total to about 500 cyclists when added to the local competitors.

The event includes speed racing in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center velodrome, 10 and 20 km races at the Mirador del Sur Park.

The categories are: 10kms for ladies and men 60-64, 65-69 and 70+, 10kms men (45-49, 50-54 and 55-59 and 20kms for men 30-44. On Thursday, 5 November a closed circuit will take place starting at 2pm.
