A report by the DR’s Prosecutor General Office has found that the number of women murdered has decreased in the DR. A total of 145 cases of deaths were registered during the first 11 months of 2009, compared to 204 in 2008. This is a decrease of 59 deaths. The highest number of deaths was registered in the National District, with 13, followed by Santiago, Samana, Puerto Plata and La Romana, with 5 each.
