Tax Department meets its budget

The Department of Taxes (DGII) reports that it has met 95% of its tax collection estimates last year. Revenues were said to total RD$151.42 billion. This includes an increase of 4.5% in sales tax (ITBIS) revenues. The DGII said that as of September revenues began to increase, with the gradual recovery of the economy. In December, collections totalled RD$13 billion, 10.7% more than in December 2008. The department says that collections for December had been met by 99%.
