The Dominican team has got off to a good start at the Latin American Special Olympics. Swimmer Alejandro Batlle clocked in at 32.15 in the 50-meters freestyle to win his event at the II Latin American Special Olympics that took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Batlle, who is autistic, is the son of former Dominican tennis champion Yolanda Logrono and physician Alejandro Batlle. The Dominican team also defeated the Puerto Rican host team, 55-47 in basketball.
