President Leonel Fernandez was in Santiago over the weekend campaigning for the reelection of Santiago mayor Jose Enrique Sued (PLD-PRSC alliance) and for that of the president of the Chamber of Deputies Julio Cesar Valentin, who is running for senator for the PLD. The ruling party has allied with the PRSC. Fernandez participated in a caravan through the city.
In Santo Domingo, President Fernandez campaigned for the reelection of city mayor Roberto Salcedo.
