JCE decisions

After yesterday’s marathon session lasting more than 13 hours, the judges of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) decided to replace former PRSC politician Victor Gomez Casanova with Wellington Arnaud on the PRD ticket for circumscription No. 2 of the National District. It also rejected the PLD candidate for senator for the province of El Seibo. The PLD had chosen Ricardo Jacobo.

The JCE gave the majority parties, the ruling PLD and the opposition PRD, 48 hours to meet the women’s quota for the 16 May municipal and congressional election.

The JCE rejected former Police chief Bernardo Santana Paez’s bid to run for deputy on the PLD-PRSC alliance ticket in El Seibo. This ruling was made on the grounds that he had just been placed in retirement and had not had time to get his new ID card.
