On Tuesday, 23 March, Miss USA Kristen Dalton and contestants in the 2010 Miss Universe Dominican Republic pageant are scheduled to take part in a clean-up campaign at Los Pomos River, a water source for the town of Bayaguana with teenagers from Children International’s Youth Health Corps. They will also plant trees to prevent soil erosion and run-off in the area.
The event is Miss USA’s way of commemorating World Water Day.
Children International CEO and President Jim Cook says, “We are grateful to have Miss USA’s commitment in helping children and families in the Dominican Republic and around the world. She is a true advocate for children living in extremely difficult circumstances.”
