The La Romana Hotel Association has launched its web page at the Dominican Annual Travel Exchange in Punta Cana. The website is sponsored by the association in coordination with the Tourism Cluster of La Romana Bayahibe, directed by Kelly Robinson.
Announcing the website, Luis Emilio Rodriguez, president of the association, said: “Tourism is not about rooms, it is about involving the community, and the actions of all the players.” He said the website hopes to share what the area has to offer with visitors.
Rodriguez recalled that La Romana is the country’s oldest destination to formally seek visitors, when Casa de Campo opened over 40 years ago. He said Casa de Campo was a pioneer in the hotel industry, golf and real estate tourism, and continues to lead in the largest luxury real estate vacation development. He highlighted the fact that it is the only tourism destination where three provinces overlap – San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana and La Altagracia. He recalled that the destination is also where Italian tourism to the DR began, in the days when Dominicus (Bayahibe) got its start.
