Five major concerts by famous jazz musicians will hit the Dominican Republic this year. The World Jazz Circuit–Latin America 2010 is an extraordinary event that features a series of five jazz concerts of the highest caliber, taking place in Latin America for the first time with world-class musicians playing at several venues in the region.
The Dominican Republic leg of the Circuit is being organized by Jazz en Dominicana and sponsored by the Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino in Santo Domingo.
The reason for choosing Santo Domingo as the launch venue is that the city has been named American Capital of Culture 2010.
The event is organized by Artemedios S.A. and Construction Musik.
The concerts will be held at the Salon Ambar of the Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino off the Mirador Sur Park.
The concerts are scheduled as follows:
26 May: Alex Acuna and John Patitucci Trio (with Edward Simon).
July: Peter Erskine Trio.
September: Frank Gambale Natural High (with Ruiz Alain Caron & Otmaro).
January 2011: Jeff Berlin, Dennis Chambers & Scott Henderson November Trilok Gurtu Band.
