Fly-in traffic to Constanza

From 17-27 April 2010, the Caribbean Air Challenge brought foreign media representatives to discover the Dominican Republic for themselves and report back their impressions to the world. On the same trip, the group also visited Exuma and Grand Turk.

19 planes participated in the international air rally. First they landed at Santo Domingo’s La Isabela International Airport, and then continued on to Constanza in the central mountains.

The visitors included Kathy Mexted, from Australia, a journalist and pilot covering for the AOPA, the largest pilot association in Australia, Robert Sirdey, a French journalist and professional photographer who covers air rallies and writes for Aviation & Pilote, the largest French language aviation magazine.

Others were Mark Helseth from Minnesota, also who has published work with AOPA and flies with the Air Rally organization and was responsible for posting video footage on the event for viewing by an estimated 415,000 pilots. Chaterine Tobenas of Canada who has been organizing the International Air Rally since 2003, covers the event for the COPA Flight main news source to Canadian Pilot and Owner Association members, an estimated 18,000 across Canada.
