Latino Baseball Hall of Fame

The first Latino Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on 29 May. The event will be celebrated at the 5,000-person Altos de Chavon amphitheater in Casa de Campo.

Emulating Cooperstown in the United States, this new international Hall of Fame has been set up to induct and honor outstanding Latino baseball stars and personalities.

In the first ceremony, the Latino Hall of Fame will include a wide range of baseball legends like Tom Lasorda, Rafael Avila, legendary scout of Latino players, the Founder & Vice Chairman of the Caribbean Baseball Confederation Commissioner Dr. Juan Puello, and many others well recognized in international baseball circles.

Alfonso Fanjul, head of Casa de Campo and the Grupo Fangul agribusiness company, and Roberto A Weill, a Cuban international entrepreneur, are the new hall of fame founder and president, respectively.

For the occasion, the nominees will receive induction during the week of 23-30 May 2010, and there will be baseball events such as tours to Major League training camps. There are 30 within 60 minutes of Casa de Campo. There also will be baseball clinics, golf and other sports invitational tournaments at Casa de Campo resort.
