The Ministry of Public Works is warning that construction works are starting on the tunnels at the intersections of Avenida 27 de Febrero with Dr. Defillo, Carmen Mendoza and Nunez de Caceres in Santo Domingo. These avenues and streets should be avoided because of worse than usual traffic jams. Travel during peak hours – 7:30am-9am and 4:30pm-7:30pm is painstakingly slow in Santo Domingo. There are also major bottlenecks with construction along the so-called Duarte Corridor and John F. Kennedy avenue. The Duarte Corridor also affects traffic off Av. Luperon. City residents have complained about the government starting so many works at the same time.
