Mike Fisher is providing excellent insight into weather conditions developing in the area. He operates a sports fishing business in Punta Cana and has to keep up to date on the weather forecast for the safety of his clients.

The hurricane season in the Caribbean lasts from June through November, with September historically being the peak month for the storms. The DR has been hit by 11 hurricanes in almost 80 years.

Tourists should consider themselves fortunate if they “luck out” and are here during a hurricane. It will be the adventure and the story of a lifetime. Take note, hotels are well prepared. With the exception of north coast hotels, most hotels in the DR have already weathered a hurricane. Your safety will in no way be compromised as long as you follow the management’s instructions.
