French Ambassador Roland Dubertrand introduced Strabon-Caribe to the DR at an event at the French Embassy last week. Strabon Caribbean is a multimedia platform that gathers information, promotes and protects cultural heritage in the Caribbean. The digital magazine prioritizes sustainable tourism and eco-friendly activities complemented by virtual tours, interviews and mini-documentaries.
The French Embassy and the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster signed a cooperation agreement to develop the initiative in the DR, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture.
The agreement was signed by French Ambassador Dubertrand in representation of the French government, Jean-Luc Lory, coordinator of Strabon-Caribbean, and by Freddy Ginebra, coordinator of the Santo Domingo Cluster, Esteban Guillen, who was appointed as the project coordinator in the DR, and Roddy Perez, administrator for Strabon Caribbean Dominican Republic.
The project was inspired by the Strabon Mediterranean program, a multilingual Euro-Mediterranean initiative. The project seeks to share knowledge on the material and intangible cultural heritage of the region.
Also participating in the Caribbean are St. Lucia, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda and Trinidad & Tobago.
