Historic shipwrecks museum

A museum exhibiting artifacts recovered from shipwrecks in the DR is now open in Samana city. The museum was built under the direction of Deep Blue Marine, the historic ship recovery company, vice presidents Randy Champion and Allan Baird. The opening exhibition includes artifacts from Le Scipion, a French warship that fought in the American War of Independence, as well as several other major historical wrecks.

The museum is equipped with a state-of-the-art conservation lab. A well-stocked gift shop has been added especially for visitors from the estimated 100 cruise ships that are scheduled to dock at Samana starting mid October.

The museum was built by Deep Blue Marine, Inc., the company that has the exploration and rescue concession for underwater explorations in the DR.
