Baseball Round Up

The rain in San Francisco de Macoris forced the postponement of the game scheduled between the Estrellas Orientales and the Gigantes del Cibao in the Julian Javier Stadium.

In Santo Domingo, the Aguilas Cibaenas won their second game in a row, defeating the reigning champions Leones del Escogido by a score of 8-7. The victory took the Santiago team out of the cellar, at least for now. The Aguilas had taken an 8-2 advantage but the Leones came back with five runs in the seventh and eighth innings. The Aguilas cause was boosted by a grand slam home run by Eric Patterson, his second game in a row of hitting a home run.

In La Romana, the torrid Toros del Este continued their domination of the championship, defeating the Tigres del Licey 6-4 behind good pitching by Humberto Sanchez and strong hitting by Michel Abreu, Victor Mercedes and Brad Emaus.
