The 11th Dominican Republic Jazz Festival 2010 will take place in Santiago and Cabarete Beach in Puerto Plata on 25, 26 and 27 November. The event opens on Thursday, 25 November at 4pm with a jazz workshop at the Centro Leon cultural center in Santiago. The formal opening is scheduled for 8:30pm at the Centro Leon. Tickets for this performance with Miguel Andres Tejada Trio of the DR and John Benitez Quintet (Puerto Rico-USA) cost RD$300.
On Friday, there will be master classes at 3pm at Cabarete Beach, and in the evening, Sandy Gabriel Group (DR) and Danilo Perez Trio (Panama) will perform free at Cabarete Beach as of 8:30pm.
On Saturday, there will be jazz clinics for students, and youth concerts at 11am at Cabarete Beach. On Saturday on Cabarete Beach, Chucho Valdes & Afro-Cuban Messengers (Cuba) will perform free of charge as of 8:30pm.
The event is being sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Cabarete Events, the Sosua and Cabarete Hotels and Restaurants Association (Ashoresoca), Ferreteria Ochoa and Viva Wyndham hotels, among others.
