Fernandez at the World Trade Organization

President Leonel Fernandez met with the director general of the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy in Geneva on Wednesday. On the same day, he also held a private meeting with UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi.

Fernandez gave a special address on Wednesday to UNCTAD member states and observers when he urged for “unified and clear policies” to help the world recover from the financial crisis. In a short video interview, Fernandez speaks about the ‘long-standing, tight working relations’ between the DR and UNCTAD over the years. He also stressed the continued importance of UNCTAD as a forum for putting forward new ideas.
