The high cost of bilingual education

The schools that provide their students with a bilingual education have announced their new rates for the 2011-2012 school year, and some have made increases of up to RD$24,000 per year. A year’s tuition at a top bilingual school or one that offers complete immersion in the second language can reach RD$560,000 if the child is already a student at the school. New students might face a RD$300,000 registration fee. The fees at these private schools vary from school to school and depend on the location and the course of study among other things. For example, a year at the Carol Morgan School will cost just over US$15,000 for students already registered at the school. New students will have to pay fees of upwards of US$10,000 just to register, according to Listin Diario.
