The deputy director of the Metro Office (OPRET), engineer Leonel Carrasco has told acento.com.do that 13.8kms of 14kms of the second line of the metro are ready. He said the second line would be inaugurated before the end of President Leonel Fernandez’s current term of office.
Carrasco says that around 3,000 workers are employed in the construction that is said to be costing taxpayers US$770 million. He said the excavations would also help with city drainage. Carrasco expressed pride at the fact that Dominican engineers were responsible for the construction.
