Hailstorm in Santiago

At about 2:50 in the afternoon, a violent thunderstorm, with strong wind gusts, thunder and lightning, and torrential rains hit the city of Santiago. Shortly after the rain started, the storm also produced marble-sized hailstones, a sign that the storm was indeed a very powerful one. The hailstones rained down on the roofs of the city for about five minutes, creating a clatter not heard in many years. Most of the major roadways were flooded as well as some of the low-lying barrios.
