Jose Oviedo promotes Jarabacoa and Taino art day trips

Cultural promoter Jose Oviedo is organizing day trips to Jarabacoa. The program includes a trip to the Cistercian Monastery, an order of monks who encourage silence, love of the land and entrepreneurial spirit. Visitors will be led to a panoramic viewpoint for a reading featuring the poems of writer and mystic Thomas Merton. There will be lunch at La Jamaca de Dios, and more time to see the flora and fauna of the mountains. Jose Oviedo, former organizer of the most successful American Capital of Culture (Santo Domingo 2010) also coordinates the Route of the Tainos, to see Taino art in Santo Domingo caves. Groups can be organized in Spanish or English. The tour, which costs RD$2,600 includes transportation, breakfast and lunch at the exclusive Jamaca de Dios restaurant.
