Cruise Insight magazine has presented the port city of La Romana with awards in five areas: most efficient operation, best port facilities, most efficient port services, best port in load and unload of cargo and best cruise ship destination port by the poll organized by Cruise Insight (former Dream World Cruise Magazine) and presented during the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Conference held in Miami. Andres Fernandez, general manager of the port, received the awards at the conference. He was especially pleased that the industry recognized La Romana with more awards than any other port this year.
The Ministry of Tourism cruise director, Orfila Salazar also attended the event that was held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, representing the Dominican Republic. Executives Sharon Mei and Estela Nunez (Sans Souci Port (Santo Domingo), Federico and Francisco Schad (Samana Ports), Luis Rodriguez and Andres Fernandez (Port of La Romana), Jochi Mella for Travel Net, and Briseida Olivero for the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster were also at the event.
