DR has extradited seven to the US

The Dominican authorities here have captured at least 10 murderers from the Sinaloa Cartel and at least seven of them have been extradited to the United States, according to a report in Listin Diario. The latest incident was the arrest and near-immediate extradition of a man said to work as a pilot for Joaquin – El Chapo – Guzman, the head of the Sinaloa Cartel and one of the most-wanted persons on earth. Listin Diario was only able to learn the last names of the latest two men arrested: Chavez Ramirez and Alvarado Torres. The activities of the Sinaloa Cartel in the northern parts of the Dominican Republic were detected by national drug agencies about two years ago, after the discovery of chemicals used to dilute narcotics and pharmaceutical businesses that were financed by alleged Mexican drug traffickers. However, it was not until the capture and testimony of Luis Fernando Bertulucci Castillo, known as Captain Rey, in July 2011, that the Dominican and US authorities obtained proof of the cartel’s attempts to establish a route to Europe through the Dominican Republic.
