Carlina Duran Baldera, 25, from the central province of La Vega became the new Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2012 last week. She was crowned by Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes and her predecessor Dahlia Fernandez at the contest held at the Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo on 17 April. She stands tall at 5’11 inches, and is a professional model. She will represent the DR at the Miss Universe pageant to be held in December 2012, with the location still to be announced. She competed in the Tourism Queen International Pageant in 2011 of Global Beauties where she won the title of the Sexiest Woman in the Caribbean. She also represented the Dominican Republic at the Miss World contest. She has worked as a model since 2005.
The first runner-up, Dulcita Leggi (National District), will represent the Dominican Republic in the Miss Continente Americano 2012 pageant in Ecuador.
The second runner-up, Carolyn Hawa, representing Santiago, won the right to travel to Bolivia to compete in the Reina Hispanoamericana competition.
The third runner-up, Alondra Pena will participate in the Miss Intercontinental 2012 and the fourth runner-up, Luz Quezada, will represent the country at Miss America Latina 2012.
