PGA Latin America at Cana Bay Golf Course in Punta Cana

Cana Bay, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana’s golf course, will be hosting the DR Open, the Dominican stop of the PGA Latin American Tour this coming 5-11 November. The 18-hole course was designed by Nicklaus Golf and runs 7,253 yards in length from the back tees.

The event is part of 11 scheduled in seven countries from September to December 2012 – Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Colombia.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana promotes itself as the country’s “truly all-inclusive golf resort.” Guests staying at Hard Rock Hotel get a US$1,500 resort credit per week that can be used to pay the US$240 green fees for playing the course.

PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem says that the Latin American tournament is an important step for the PGA Tour and for professional golf, especially now that golf is set to return to Olympic competition in the Brazil 2016 Olympic Games.
