Of the three main maritime arrival ports in the Dominican Republic, most tourists arrived through the Casa de Campo-La Romana Port. For the first two months of the year, some 125,691 travelers came by sea to the La Romana Port, the Samana mooring point off Cayo Levantado and to Sans Souci Port in Santo Domingo.
The Central Bank reports that 92,580 cruise ship tourists visited after arriving at Casa de Campo-La Romana Port on board 46 ships, 26,383 to Samana on board 18 ships and another 6,728 to Santo Domingo’s Sans Souci Port on board 31 ships. In 2011, a total of 347,914 passengers visited.
The breakdown for the 347,914 maritime visitors in 2011 was 27,630 to Sans Souci Ports in Santo Domingo, 167,718 to La Romana and 152,566 to Samana.
