The National Police has announced that new motorized units with vehicles equipped with automatic number plate recognition systems are being assigned to 24-hour patrols along Las Americas Expressway that links Santo Domingo’s Las Americas Airport and the capital city. The cars were sent to patrol after many complaints of robberies targeting travelers on the road. The new system assists the police in license plate tracking.
