It’s summer and the time when the majestic blue marlins tour the waters of eastern Dominican Republic in bigger numbers. Two important fishing tournament are planned. These are:
Cap Cana, the hotel and residential development in the southern end of the Punta Cana coast, is hosting its Cap Cana Classic (Blue Marlin) for 24-26 July (Blue Marlin). Competitors come from the DR, the US, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Venezuela and the Virgin Islands.
The 22nd Blue Marlin International Fishing Tournament organized by the Santo Domingo Yacht Club at its Cabeza de Toro facilities will follow from 2-4 August.
These tournaments are held by the modality catch and release. They follow the rules of the International Game and Fishing Association (IGFA).
