Seeking to contribute to restoring confidence in the popular breakfast meat product, First Lady-turned Vice President Margarita Cedeno announced via Twitter this morning, Thursday 16 August, that she had breakfasted on “salami, yautia (taro) and scrambled eggs.” A recent study by ProConsumidor, the government consumer protection agency, found that many brands of salami sold locally are manufactured with dubious ingredients that do not meet national quality standards.
