Ocean World gets a big slide

A new triple twister waterslide opens this weekend at Ocean World Adventure Park in Cofresi, Puerto Plata. The waterslide is next to the park’s dolphin lagoon, the largest man-made dolphin lagoon in the world, at around 12 million gallons.

The slides do not end in the lagoon, out of consideration for the animals. They end in a splashy ‘landing lane’ or ‘water brake’ nearby.

The waterslide park is scheduled to be operational this weekend, just before the new school year gets fully under way. The slides were manufactured in Mexico and assembled right on site.

From the top of the waterslide tower you get a good view of Playa Cofresi (with the Hacienda Lifestyle Resorts, Cofresi Palms, (formerly Sun Village), which is now running specials for residents.

The cost is an extra RD$300 per day for residents (cedula required) or US$10 for international visitors. Unlimited use is allowed for that day.
