Omega on hunger strike

Popular singer Antonio Peter de la Rosa, better known as Omega, has told the national press and Human Rights’ representatives via his lawyer, Candido Simo, that he is going on hunger strike as he believes he has been jailed for no reason.

He is currently on three months remand in San Pedro de Macoris jail after being accused by of violence against Yuny Mercedes Lopez (Renata), although she later retracted her accusation saying she had lied. Omega believes he should no longer be in jail following her retraction and has been waiting for the sentence to be repealed, but there has been no action on the part of the judiciary, so he decided to go on hunger strike.

This is the third time that Omega has been jailed following accusations of domestic violence.
