Illegal billboards to be taken down in city

National District (Santo Domingo) environmental director Jose Miguel Martinez has announced that the municipal authorities have started dismantling around 120 illegally installed rooftop billboards. He said that only five companies are licensed to use rooftop billboards for outdoor advertising in the capital city. The city government actions are based on Resolution 46-99 that regulates outdoor advertising in the city and the billboards will be dismantled all this month, said Martinez.

The process began on Avenida 27 de Febrero and will continue on John F. Kennedy, Padre Castellanos and 5to Centenario avenues. “This is the city government’s commitment to guaranteeing that the city can be less polluted from a visual point of view, and especially safer,” he said, as reported in Listin Diario.
