Starting today, Monday 8 October and lasting until Thursday, 11 October, the Northwest Line, including Valverde (Mao) and Montecristi provinces will be bone dry. The National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewers (INAPA) had previously announced the closure of the aqueduct for repairs and cleaning. Inapa asked people to store water for their use this week. The Institute is taking this major step in maintenance because of constant complaints of foul-smelling and yellowish water coming from the pipes. In many cases, thoughtless individuals have been known to break into the water mains to get water for their needs, resulting in major leaks and pollution.
