Eight artists exhibiting at new Camilo Carrau Art Hall in Puerto Plata

Eight Dominican artists are showing their work at the inaugural exhibition, New Looks to the North, of the Sala de Arte Camilo Carrau in Puerto Plata. The Sala de Arte Camilo Carrau is located in the same Victorian house as the Puerto Plata artist in whose honor it is named lived. Center coordinator Alberto Khoury said that the art hall is a space for reflection and a contribution to the country’s educational, cultural and social development. He stressed that the center seeks to serve as a meeting place for people, and that events will be organized for a range of audiences, creating a space for the arts as a form of expression.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Cesar Jose de los Santos attended the event along with Regional Culture Director Rene Merette and the director of the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster, as well as artists and prominent Puerto Plata community members.
