Police agents living overseas to be dismissed

And now Dominicans find out that there are Dominican policemen that have emigrated but are still being issued their paychecks. The head of the National Police, Major General Jose Armando Polanco Gomez, says that they are investigating a number of police agents, including colonels, supposedly on active service, but who have left the country without permission.

Polanco Gomez, who was interviewed at the Presidential Place following a meeting with President Danilo Medina, did not say how many were involved but only that it was part of the process to ensure that any members of the police who were on the payroll were actually working. He confirmed that their employment with the Police would be terminated.

The meeting with the President was to discuss the building of a new Police Headquarters for the National District to replace the current structure that is just a wooden hut with a corrugated zinc roof.
