The signage is already up. Dovicon, the company that was awarded by Congress the concession for the maintenance of several highways in the country (Viadom), has plans to start charging new tolls on the road “in the next few days” as reported in El Caribe. Vehicles and SUVs will pay RD$30, minibuses RD$60, and buses and trucks RD$60-RD$100. The new tollbooth is located in La Penda, where La Vega becomes Santiago province. The toll booth was built 12 years ago, but transport union protests never allowed for its operation.
