The Ministry of Public Works has opened the new bridge at Jatubey on the Duarte Highway between Bonao and La Vega. The old bridge had to be torn down due to damage from the river and replaced with a new one. Minister Gonzalo Castillo received the new structure from Engineer Manuel Estrella, whose company, Ingeneria Estrella, was in charge of the construction project.
The minister thanked Estrella who fulfilled his promise to have the new bridge ready within 60 days, saying that traffic can now return to normal along the nation’s most traveled highway. The new bridge has a life expectancy of between 50 to 60 years.
