Deputy warden at Rafey jail sues Adriano Roman

The deputy director of security at the Rafey Jail, Luis Montas Marichal is suing inmate Adriano Roman after the latter allegedly threatened to kill him, as reported in Diario Libre. The newspaper says the Santiago prosecutor Luisa Liranzo confirmed the information and told Diario Libre that the suit would be heard.

The alleged death threat against Montas Marichal occurred a day after Roman injured fellow inmate Johannes Henrikus with a pen. The Dutch national is in jail at Rafey for violating drug trafficking laws.

National prisons coordinator Ismael Paniagua said that as a preventive and corrective measure, Roman was sent to a “reflection cell.”

Yesterday, lawyer Negro Veras, father of Jordi Veras, one of Roman’s alleged victims, said that the expression that the latter used to threaten Montas was: “that he was not going to die of fever in his bed and that he was not going to send him to be killed, that he would kill him himself.” Negro Veras said that when Roman told Montas that he was not going to have him killed, but that he would do so himself, “it is proof that he was not going to do the same as he did with Miguelina Llaverias or my son whom he did not kill, but paid for them to be killed.”
