The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has declared a green alert for 10 provinces due to Tropical Storm Sandy, currently to the south of Jamaica. The provinces on alert are Barahona, Bahoruco, San Juan de la Maguana, Azua, Pedernales, Independencia, Elias Pina, Monte Cristi, Dajabon and Santiago Rodriguez.
The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) has forecast an increase in rain, wind and electric storms from tonight, mainly in the southwest and the central mountain area. They have warned that the rain could be as much as 100 millimeters.
