Record number of Dominicans to play in World Series

The Detroit Tigers will have six Dominicans on their World Series roster: Johnny Peralta, Ramon Santiago, Jose Valverde, Alberto Alburquerque, Joaquin Benoit and Octavio Dotel. The San Francisco Giants will have three Dominicans on their roster: Santiago Casilla, Guillermo Mota and Joaquin Arias. If Melky Cabrera had not been punished for the use of illegal substances he would also have been on the roster, giving the Dominican Republic the all-time record for players from Latin America on World Series rosters. The DR and Venezuela have each had nine players on these rosters.
