In a message sent to Congress together with the tax reform proposal, President Danilo Medina says that the tax reform is needed for education, health, security, job creation, social programs, housing, roads and “the fulfillment of the dream that we have decided to build together”.
The President’s message stressed that the country cannot be transformed, poverty reduced or thousands of families given hope and jobs unless the resources are available. It adds that if the tax reform were to be passed, the government could start the process of consolidating public finances, securing macro-economic stability and meeting the State’s financial and social commitments.
