Wessin leaves the post, but party VP inherits it

According to press reports, PQD politician Elias Wessin Chavez resigned from the post of director of Bienes Nacionales, the government department in charge of state property, after news reports revealed the results of a recent Chamber of Accounts audit that showed irregularities. The government has now appointed the vice president of the same political party as his replacement in the post.

Hoy reports that Emerson Soriano Contreras, who worked at BN in the role of head of the Division of Condominiums, will replace Wessin, as announced in Presidential Decree 617-12.

Wessin Chavez is a long time political ally of the ruling PLD party.

The PLD administrations have been criticized for the widespread use tax revenues for political patronage.
