A bad weekend for foreign villains

The weekend did not end well for at least nine foreigners who were arrested and held for deportation on charges ranging from drug trafficking to money laundering. El Nuevo Diario reported the arrest of Canadian twins Erick and Yanick Blanchette on drug charges after the DNCD searched their house in Costa Azul in Cabarete. The 40-year old twins were arrested on an international warrant for drug trafficking. The DNCD found drugs and weapons in the house, along with equipment for preparing narcotics for sale.

In Santo Domingo, the authorities placed seven Czech citizens on an Airbus belonging to the Czech Air Force. The seven had been located together with the authorities from their home country as part of “Operation Dominik.” They were wanted on money laundering and other criminal charges. Major General Jose Armando Polanco Gomez said that the Dominican and Czech Interpol divisions had worked together to arrest the Czech citizens who had sought refuge in the Dominican Republic. The deportees were identified as Michael Grundza, Jana Durianova, Karel Koza, Miloslav Lindr, Jiri Stepanek (Paul Bucher), Petr Fiser, Miloslav Votava and Pavel Storkan.
